Air Force Plant 42, a classified aircraft-manufacturing complex in Palmdale, California, is the home of Lockheed Martin's "Skunk Works," the advanced-development shop behind secret aircraft such as the U-2, the SR-71 Blackbird, and the F-117 stealth fighter. Ringed by security and closed to the public, its hangars have produced some of the most advanced and secretive flying machines ever built.
