Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox
Giant statues of a lumberjack legend
On the shore of Lake Bemidji in Bemidji, Minnesota, stand a pair of beloved statues of the folklore lumberjack Paul Bunyan and his companion Babe the Blue Ox. Erected in 1937, they are among the oldest and most famous roadside statues in the country and helped launch a tradition of giant Bunyan figures across the northern woods.
