The Otay Mesa Port of Entry, on the southern edge of San Diego, is the principal commercial truck crossing between Southern California and Mexico, complementing the passenger-heavy San Ysidro crossing a few miles to the west. Long lines of freight trucks move auto parts, electronics, and produce across the border here every day.

It connects directly to the factory belt of Tijuana and the wider maquiladora economy of Baja California, making it one of the busiest cargo gateways on the entire U.S.-Mexico border.
