One World Trade Center rises 1,776 feet (541 m) in Lower Manhattan, the tallest building in the United States and the Western Hemisphere. Completed in 2014 on the site of the original Twin Towers destroyed on September 11, 2001, its symbolic height in feet references the year of American independence. It anchors the rebuilt World Trade Center site beside the 9/11 Memorial.
