Oatman
A Route 66 gold town roamed by wild burros
Oatman, in the mountains of western Arizona, was a gold-mining town that boomed in the 1910s and then faded as the mines closed and traffic on old Route 66 was rerouted. It survives as a Wild West tourist stop where descendants of prospectors' pack burros wander the main street freely, and staged gunfights entertain visitors among the century-old buildings.
