The Smithsonian's bronze-clad museum on the Mall
The National Museum of African American History and Culture, opened on the National Mall in 2016, is the Smithsonian's museum devoted to the African American experience. Its distinctive three-tiered bronze-colored corona, inspired by Yoruba art, wraps a building whose galleries trace history from slavery through the civil rights movement to the present. It has been one of the most sought-after tickets in Washington.
