Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, home of the University of Michigan Wolverines, is the largest stadium in the United States and the Western Hemisphere, with an official capacity of 107,601. Nicknamed "The Big House," it regularly draws crowds of more than 100,000 for college football Saturdays, and its record attendance topped 115,000. Opened in 1927, most of its bowl sits below ground level, giving it a deceptively low profile from outside.
