Grafton
A ghost town beneath the cliffs near Zion
Grafton, on the Virgin River near Zion National Park in Utah, was a small Mormon farming settlement founded in the 1860s and repeatedly battered by floods that finally drove out the last families by the 1940s. Its handful of preserved adobe and wood buildings set against red sandstone cliffs are among the most photographed ghost-town scenes in the West, and appeared in the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
