Going-to-the-Sun Road

Going-to-the-Sun Road threads about 50 miles (80 km) across the heart of Glacier National Park in Montana, climbing over the Continental Divide at Logan Pass. An engineering marvel carved into sheer mountainsides and completed in 1932, it is one of the most spectacular — and hair-raising — mountain drives in the country, open only in the short summer once the deep snow is cleared.
