The Fremont Troll
A giant troll clutching a car under a bridge
The Fremont Troll is an 18-foot concrete sculpture lurking under the north end of the Aurora Bridge in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. Created by local artists in 1990, the one-eyed troll clutches a real Volkswagen Beetle in one hand, echoing the fairy-tale trolls that live under bridges. It has become one of Seattle's most beloved and photographed public artworks.
