The empty desert road by Area 51
Nevada State Route 375 was officially dubbed the "Extraterrestrial Highway" in 1996 for the many UFO sightings reported along its lonely 98-mile course through the high desert near the secret Area 51 base. Passing the tiny town of Rachel and its alien-themed diner, the empty road has become a pilgrimage for UFO enthusiasts and road-trippers drawn to its eerie remoteness.
