The original Disney park
Disneyland in Anaheim, California, is the original Disney theme park, opened by Walt Disney himself in 1955 and the only one built under his direct supervision. Centered on Sleeping Beauty Castle, it drew about 17.3 million visitors in 2024, second only to Florida's Magic Kingdom among theme parks worldwide.
The park introduced the template of themed lands that Disney would repeat around the globe. With its neighbor Disney California Adventure, it forms the Disneyland Resort in the heart of Orange County, south of Los Angeles.
