The Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota, is a Moorish-Revival arena whose exterior is decorated every year with elaborate murals made entirely from corn, grain, and native grasses. First built in 1892 to celebrate the region's harvest, the current building's cobs are cut and nailed into fresh themed designs each summer, then weathered by birds and winter before the cycle begins again. It hosts basketball games, concerts, and the annual Corn Palace Festival.
