Coral Castle
A mysterious one-man stone garden
Coral Castle, in Homestead, Florida, is a garden of massive carved limestone (coral rock) blocks — some weighing many tons — quarried and set single-handedly by an eccentric Latvian immigrant, Edward Leedskalnin, between the 1920s and 1950s. How one small man moved and placed the enormous stones alone remains a source of fascination and legend, making it one of the South's most curious roadside attractions.
