Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, North Carolina, is one of the busiest airports in the world, built around a single dominant airline hub that connects the fast-growing Southeast to the rest of the country. Its central location and efficient connecting design move enormous numbers of passengers through a compact terminal.

Set on the Piedmont plateau between the Appalachians and the coast, the airport has expanded steadily with the Carolinas' banking and population boom to become a key crossroads of the eastern United States.
