Calexico East Port of Entry
A major California-Mexicali commercial crossing
The Calexico East Port of Entry connects Calexico, California, with Mexicali, Baja California, in the irrigated farm country of the Imperial Valley near the southeastern corner of the state. Built to take the growing truck traffic away from the older downtown Calexico crossing, it handles a heavy flow of commercial freight and produce across the border.
The crossing sits in the low, hot desert near the Salton Sea, where Colorado River water turns the valley into one of the most productive winter farming regions in the country, much of it tied to the twin-city economy with Mexicali.
